Hazelle Goodman Live at here arts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Trinidad & Tobago born comedian Hazelle Goodman is back on stage. This performance is billed “Live!” For the holiday season, Goodman has decided to gift wrap two performances “To The Top Top Top” and “On Edge” as a special present to all her fans. “Come laugh your heads off as these two great shows collide,” says Goodman.
Written and performed by Goodman and directed by Jamaican Vernice Miller “Live” takes place at the HERE Arts Center, 145 Sixth Avenue, between Spring & Broome Streets, Manhattan, and only on Tuesdays, from December 6 to Tuesday January 10th from 7PM. “This could be one of the best gifts you can give a friend,” laughs Goodman. For tickets www.here.org or call 212 868-4444.
For those of you who don’t know, Goodman is a one- woman powerhouse! Her unique ability to transform into many different characters has propelled her to the forefront as a multi-dimensional actress. Featured in Vogue, People and Vibe magazines, her self-titled HBO Special received unprecedented ratings and was nominated for two Cable Ace Awards–Best Comedy Special and Best Performer.
Among her many credits, Goodman starred opposite Woody Allen in Deconstructing Harry in the ground breaking role of Cookie, as the diva, drug lord, Georgia Rae Mahoney on NBC’s Homicide and as the savvy attorney, “Lynette Neal” on ABC’s All My Children. Her Shakespearean debut as the Queen, in the Public Theater’s production of Cymbeline, won her rave reviews!
Goodman also joined Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Glenn Close and others at Madison Square Garden in a moving performance of the Vagina Monologues. She was last seen as Evelda Drumgo in the block buster film, Hannibal with Anthony Hopkins.
In addition to her busy schedule, she has created an Art & Spirit volunteer program for the inmates of Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. She has also established a life long scholarship fund at The City College of New York in honor of slain African immigrant Amadou Diallo – The Amadou Diallo Criminal Justice Award.
Ms. Goodman was recently honored by Manhattan Borough President, C. Virginia Fields for her outstanding contributions in film and television.

Kwanza celebrations

Kwanzaa, from the Swahili for “first fruits,” is an African-American cultural holiday that celebrates family and community. Observed from December 26 through January 1, it is based on the agricultural celebrations of Africa and reinforces the Nguzo Saba, or the Seven Principles: Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith).

Celebrate Kwanzaa over three days with festivities for the entire family, including performances, workshops, a marketplace, and Kwanzaa culinary delights.

The Museum is located at 79th Street and Central Park West and is easily reached by public transportation. The main entrance to the Rose Center for Earth and Space is located at 81st Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.
